Fun at the Crafty Scrapper!

Oh Wow!  On Saturday, 28 more people found out about (and I believe most are now addicted to) the wonderful world of Zentangle.  That was just the best day this year for me!

I truly, truly regret all the technical difficulties I had, and so appreciate everyone’s patience.  Next time still may not be perfect, but it will be a LOT better than Saturday was.  I tested the setup before I brought it, but I guess I didn’t test long enough!

On to the good stuff – here is a picture of our very first class on Saturday morning.  My pictures of the class tiles mosaic didn’t turn out sharp enough to post, so I’m hoping someone from the first class reads this and will share any photos they took.   This credit goes to Carolyn Ross, owner of  The Crafty Scrapper .

Morning Class

I don’t have pictures of the students from the afternoon class, but I have pictures of their work.  And this group included four youth who did a wonderful job with each of their tangles.

I always learn so much from my students, and that was certainly the case on Saturday.

Thank you to all who came out Saturday and I can’t wait for the next one!

Big Birthday Bash at The Crafty Scrapper

What a great day I had on Saturday!  The Crafty Scrapper held its Big Birthday Celebration with prizes and make and takes galore.

First, the drive down to Waxahachie was so beautiful with all the bluebonnets on the sides of the roads!  Thank you to Trisha Conlon for letting me catch a ride with her and get a better view!

Second, so many new friends with mutual acquaintances and oh so much talent!  It truly is a small world, but there is so much creativity in it!

Third and Best, I shared Zentangle with over 40 people that day!  I heard many comments, the most popular ones being, “This is fun – I really didn’t think I would like this!” and “Wow, I can do this!”  The best part for me was that with each group that sat at my table, I learned something new, a different way to view a pattern, a new tangleation, a different way to shade, etc.  The worst thing was that I was so busy, I never took pictures during the demos!

Classes on April 19 are full, but we’ve added two more of the basic Zentangle 101 classes for Saturday, May 17. Morning class is 10:30 – 12:30, and afternoon is 2-4 pm.  All supplies are provided.  And, I’m working on some projects for possible future classes!

One project I’ve already done is the giant clothespin.  I think my Tee-Time pattern looks great on it!

Quilt Show and Zentangle Make-N-Take

Tomorrow (Saturday, April 5) my mother’s quilting group is presenting their annual Quilt Show at the Gladewater Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 149 County Road 1750 (off of FM 1402), in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  There are always beautiful quilts that have been made in the past year, but my favorites are the older, antique ones that you can tell were frequently used.  They also have a King Size Quilt for raffle, quilted by everyone in the group.  Tickets are $1 each, or 6 for $5.  Leave a comment if you would like to purchase tickets to win this:

I will also be doing a Zentangle Make-N-Take Bookmark for anyone interested!

Come out and see us between 9 and 3 tomorrow.  Prizes are given away throughout the day, and the Quilt drawing will be held at 3 pm.  I hope I win!

“Sunday Morning” on CBS

Zentangle fans all over the country are sending tiles to CBS News today to encourage the producers to look at Zentangle as a segment on the show, Sunday Morning.  It fits in perfectly with their programming, so we are really hoping for success.  If you would like to join in, here is the link to the newsletter along with the full story.

To “prove” the value of Zentangle, I am mailing a tile from June of last year with my letter.

I hope they realize that not only is it beatiful art, but it can be very therapeutic, too!
